Hospital Must Haves

For those of us who struggle with chronic illness, we often find ourselves in the hospital for treatments and tests, or in the emergency room for things we can't handle on our own. Trips such as these can seem daunting and exhausting, not to mention stressful and often times boring. Here are my must haves for optimal comfort in a hospital setting.
Comfy Pajamas
Comfort should be our #1 priority when it comes to ER and hospital trips. They are generally rather uncomfortable, so some cozy PJs are always a must.
Podcasts and Music
I like to download plenty of podcast episodes before making a trip like this, as well as download some good music for offline listening. Service can be spotty at times and I like to have plenty of entertainment backed up to keep me occupied. Some of my favorite podcasts at the moment are Welcome to Night Vale and Art History Babes.
Electronics (and Chargers)
I usually bring my laptop as well as my phone if I know the trip is going to be longer, and of course you need chargers for when batteries get low.
Stuffed Animals
Stuffed animals and other comfort items can help ease some of the anxiety surrounding trips like these as well. Like I mentioned before: comfort is the #1 priority.
Blankets and Pillows from Home
Blankets and pillows from home add to the level of comfort in an uncomfortable setting. Hospitals and ERs are always cold, and the pillows provided are almost always uncomfortable.
Important Information
Be sure to bring lists detailing what medications you're on, any allergies you have, and any conditions they need to be made aware of. The emergency department won't always be able to get in touch with your other physicians, so it's important that they have the information they need at hand.
